Now & Then

mosey handmade is inspired by the fabrics from her childhood, calico’s
and tiny prints, hand dyed felt. mosey loves working with recycled
materials. dyeing them, cutting them up and fashioning them into new
lovelies. after graduating from the museum school in boston, mosey
dusted off the old sewing machine and got right down to work.
see also: a love of things found in her tiny garden, the ocean or the
forest nearby. natural materials have become a mosey favorite and
she cannot seem to get enough of wool, linen, and cotton.
mosey handmade has been felting recycled sweaters in her washing
machine all fall and winter- and there is nothing like the hum of the
wash and the smell of lavender soap to get one sewing!
all mosey items are handmade in a wee little studio with a view of the
garden and the smell of the ocean.

bio: Ross Cottrell

Ross Cottrell began his career in graphic design handling all aspects of the design process while working for an advertising agency in North Carolina. His experiences soon lead him to the position of Head Designer for a private firm in the Washington DC area where he also began doing freelance design work. After several years, Ross and his wife, Joanna, chose to relocate to escape the hurried pace of the corporate world and get back to a simpler way of life.
A place to call home was found in Stockton Springs, Maine. Ross, a designer of many avenues, meticulously blended old and new characteristics of architectural design when he built and hand-crafted the home where his family currently resides.

Ross began operating his own studio in Maine as Cottrell Designs in 2003. Today, Cottrell Designs provides the full spectrum of services, to include identity creation, branding, material sourcing, product development, and printing services. Ross’ clients range from small home-based businesses and not-for-profits to large privately held multimillion dollar enterprises including French’s Point.

Cottrell Designs provides consultation, development, design, and print services for paper materials and stationary including the one-of-a-kind and hand assembled invitations.

His work has been seen in Style Me Pretty.

Read about the excitement one little dog caused…

I actually LOVE when dogs attend weddings…even better when they are part of the ceremony! Maybe it is partly that I have always loved animals…and the other part…because I love the unexpected…dogs provide just that!

I (Audra Photography) photographed this wedding in Lincolnville, Maine…it was so much fun to have a little spunky dog in the wedding party!

This little Jack Russel Terrier was so well behaved…patiently waiting for his turn to walk down the aisle, sitting at attention during the ceremony, even obediently looking to his masters for direction as they walk together during The Recessional…

But then instinct kicked in and well mannered Fido became a hunter of bouquets!!

Ribbon untied, solid grip on the stems, chomping as he rans at top speeds (leaving a trail of petals along the way)…I think he was actually smiling!!

In the end, only the Bride could convince him to “drop” his prize…I am quite sure this is a moment that will not be forgotten by family and friends…all of the commotion certainly resulted in lots of laughs!

I know the Bride and Groom were so happy to celebrate their wedding day with their beloved dog!! …even if there was one less bouquet in the formal photograph of the wedding party…

Charlotte has worked in the corporate world for the last 20 years. She has gained valuable business knowledge through those experiences. She has always had an artistic side and knew that one day she would focus a career around it.

Charlotte began creating jewelry in 2002. She made pieces for herself and gifts for others. It wasn’t too long that people started asking her if she sold her jewelry anywhere. She began having home shows that proved to be very successful. Many of her friends encouraged her to take it further. In April of 2006 she began taking a serious look at forming a business. She enrolled in a 12-week class that helped to develop the idea about a jewelry business. When the class ended, competition proved to be tough and she wasn’t so sure that her jewelry was unique enough for the market. She took a rest for about a month and the idea of embedding charts in resin surfaced, and since that moment, she hasn’t looked back.

All of our jewelry is the result of focused hand production in our Portland, Maine studio.

a word from Audra:

I love CHART metalworks! I met Charlotte earlier this year…and I instantly fell in love with her beautiful jewelry!!! You can see it’s quality at first glance…but when you hold it in your hand, it is so solid and well made. Lovely. This will definitely become the coveted family jewelry that is passed on from generation to generation.
