bio: Ross Cottrell

Ross Cottrell began his career in graphic design handling all aspects of the design process while working for an advertising agency in North Carolina. His experiences soon lead him to the position of Head Designer for a private firm in the Washington DC area where he also began doing freelance design work. After several years, Ross and his wife, Joanna, chose to relocate to escape the hurried pace of the corporate world and get back to a simpler way of life.
A place to call home was found in Stockton Springs, Maine. Ross, a designer of many avenues, meticulously blended old and new characteristics of architectural design when he built and hand-crafted the home where his family currently resides.

Ross began operating his own studio in Maine as Cottrell Designs in 2003. Today, Cottrell Designs provides the full spectrum of services, to include identity creation, branding, material sourcing, product development, and printing services. Ross’ clients range from small home-based businesses and not-for-profits to large privately held multimillion dollar enterprises including French’s Point.

Cottrell Designs provides consultation, development, design, and print services for paper materials and stationary including the one-of-a-kind and hand assembled invitations.

His work has been seen in Style Me Pretty.

Black Dinah Chocolatiers sent me a package in the mail!!! A very sweet gift of chocolates!

I am always eager to open a box of chocolates…I know it is not very lady like…but I usually dig right in. If I don’t like my first pick, I put the leftover bit of chocolate back in the box and I try the next one…and so on.

This time, my “chocolate box opening experience” was very different. When I lifted the lid…I found myself staring at ART. Really. Art. Just looking at the modern design and shape of the two chocolates delighted me. And then, my first bite…the taste was truly indescribably delicious. Brilliant flavor and texture!!

My second impression of Black Dinah Chocolatiers confirms my first:

The cherry on top: the prices are completely reasonable with no minimum order. example: 1 Chocolate in a glassine envelope with a personalized message, name and/or date – $2.50 each (sample in photo above) OR a 2-piece box with a ribbon – $5!!! I can only think of a handful of times when I have tasted something so incredible that it has burned itself into my memory…I will NEVER be able to forget the scrumptious hand-cut caramel, sprinkled with Maine sea salt…and I am afraid that my caramel craving will probably never be completely satisfied again…unless…(note to my family and friends: for every holiday from now until forever…can you just give me a box of handmade chocolates from a remote island in Maine? hint. hint.) ~audra
